Birthday party

Celebrated my niece Wilma today. She turned 11. 🙂 The cake was really good and the dog enjoyed the company!

We were quite a lot of people there; 14 if I haven’t forgotten someone, plus the dog.

One sock is done, I started the other one today.

Almost midnight. Better sleep now.

Knitting socks

Today I started to knit a pair of socks for my niece. 🙂 Mum started to knit a pair for one of my nephews, my sister’s middle child. No surprise who will knit faster. I have never finished a pair of socks… Mum has made several pairs. This time I will try, but I am sure I am going to have problems knitting the heel. We’ll see. Maybe I will watch some Youtube videos about knitting socks. It’s weird that my 10 year old niece has nearly my shoe size! She has 34, I have 35. My thirteen year old nephew (who will get mum’s knitted socks) has a 37, but boys have bigger feet, so no surprise there.

So fun that Kimi Raikkonen finished the Formula 1 season with a podium finish! 😀 Several months until the next race… 😦

I am watching a movie on TV. But it’s irritating that they have the news in the middle of the movie, so there is a gap of 15-20 minutes or more. I am writing this as I wait for the movie to continue. I knit the sock while I watch the movie. It’s a great way to keep me awake. If I didn’t knit or do anything else I would probably fall asleep.

The last week or so I have been searching the photo albums in the house for pictures of the cats. I have had three cats, Niki included. I had no pictures of Niki as a kitten on the computer, because we didn’t have a digital camera when he was born. I am not even sure anyone had a digital camera 15 years ago.

Anyway, I have now scanned a lot of the pictures of the three cats and today I created a photo book! 😀 My fourth photo book! I haven’t ordered it yet, because I need to go through it again and correct any misspellings.

Time to continue watching the movie and knit a sock! 😀

Birthday party

My niece Wilma turns 9 years today, so we went there for a birthday party. It was me, mum, grand mum, my brother, Alec, Wilma, my sister and her husband, who left pretty early. He went to pick up my nephew Rasmus who played soccer in another town (don’t know where). My nephew Jonas wasn’t home either, because he was on his way to the north of Finland to play some soccer tomorrow. The cake (which Wilma and Jonas made earlier today, before Jonas left the house) was yummy! They had decorated it with whipped cream and strawberries. Inside was mushed banana. We were there from around 1 pm to around 5 pm.

The storm that started yesterday (I think) continued today… It was really strong winds at times. But pretty sunny too. A bit cold though. The sun doesn’t warm up the air even if it’s shining.

Think I am going to bed now. Hope the cat doesn’t wake me up so much during the night.

Gingerbreads! :)

Gingerbreads! :)

Whoa, this was a long day… Alec left at 4.20 pm. That’s at least two hours later than I thought he would go home.

I had barely time to vacuum clean the house and wash the dishes. At 5.20 pm my niece Wilma came. Wilma is my sister’s daughter, 8 years old.

I had invited her to come on day this week. She has autumn holiday from school Thursday to Monday, as all the other kids. Well, she wanted to bake gingerbreads! I knew she would want that, so I got some dough and some icing from the grocery store yesterday. It took us barely an hour to bake them all. I didn’t count them this time. But I used the same amount of dough as the previous time (when I posted a picture of gingerbreads in a glass jar). Don’t remember how many it was that time, may be around 100.

So we baked them and waited for them to cool. While we waited for that we cleared all the stuff away from my overly messy desk… I got rid of the dust and dirt and I put much less stuff back on the desk. 😉 We threw quite a lot away and some things we put in other drawers or in the closet.

We took a break from the desk cleaning, went back to the kitchen and iced some gingerbreads. I had bought two tubes of icing from the store, so we could ice them at the same time. And it was much easier than making the icing from scratch.

I would guess we iced a total of 25 ginger breads, something like that. Then the icing had to dry at least 10 minutes, so we took out the garbage and cleaned the desk a bit more.

My sister came around 8.15 pm to pick Wilma up. I gave her all the gingerbreads that she iced, plus most of the other gingerbreads and also the tube of icing that she had used. So at home she can ice some more gingerbreads if she likes and I am sure at least one of her brothers will want to ice some too.

The snow turned into rain and then back into snow later during the evening. It’s very wet and feels cold. When we took the garbage out we noticed that the cars do have snow on them and there is a little snow on the grass. But most of what comes down melt.

Wilma liked watching Google images of 1000 paper cranes. I showed her some images of what other people have done with their cranes. She seemed very interested. At the moment I have 531 paper cranes. I am not going to make any more tonight though.

Today is Kimi Räikkönen’s birthday!! 😀 Hope he has a wonderful day, where ever he is in the world. May be he is in Finland celebrating with his mum and brother. Who knows? It’s his 34th birthday. 🙂

I am tired now. It’s close to 9 pm. I still have a few items on my bed and I’ll put them away. Then I’ll watch an episode of Numb3rs on DVD before I go to bed. And I have been sneezing X times tonight. X meaning I lost count on the number of times I sneezed.

But I don’t think I will take any medication yet. I’ll wait until tomorrow and see how it is then. And my sneezing has nothing to do with dusty desks… I was sneezing well before we started cleaning it…

Okay, enough for today. I’ll watch Numb3rs now.

Paper cranes

Finally I am done with all dishes. 🙂 My finger tips are like raisins. 😉

I have now a total of 500 paper cranes! Halfway! 😀 I guess I’ll make a few more while watching Swedish Hollywood wives later tonight.

I invited my niece to come for a visit some day this week. We shall see when she is coming. She has autumn holiday from school on Thursday and Friday, but then she had some plans for the early afternoon.

It’s very dark outside… It will be lighter when the snow comes.

It’s very dark in the bathroom too. 😦 The fluorescent lamp tube no longer works. I have to have a flashlight on the sink when I’m in there. But I can’t buy a new one, because there are so many different kinds in the stores around town. And even if I found the right one, I would not be able to change them.

Soon 8 pm. The Hollywood wives come at 10 pm. So still a couple of hours to wait.

On my birthday (September 25) grand mum gave me a bouquet of small pink carnations. They have long been very beautiful and it wasn’t until today, three weeks later, that I had to throw them away.

Cat in the box

Cat in the box

The cat found a new box tonight. 🙂 He always have to check new boxes out, and see if he can fit into them… This one seems to be a little too small. But he still enjoyed sleeping in it!

Had to spend the day with my niece who didn’t feel well enough to be in school. We watched Toy Story 3 on DVD and read some books. Also helped her a little with her school work that her big brother brought with him when he came home from school. Got there around 9 am and left after 2 pm.

Very rainy today and cold. 😦 Pretty windy as well. Not a pleasant day to be outside the house. I was soaking wet when I came home in the afternoon.

Nothing on TV tonight. Spend a couple of hours watching Numb3rs on DVD. I am watching season 5 at the moment, only a few more episodes to watch of that season. Of course, I have watched all the episodes before so I know what happens in them. But I love Numb3rs! 😀

It’s getting late. Better go to bed.

Blueberry pie and vanilla sauce :D

I had my nephew Alec here today from 9 am to 4.30 pm. One hour later, 5.30 pm my niece Wilma came and stayed until 9 pm. 🙂 With Wilma we made a blueberry pie and vanilla sauce. Yummy!! 😀

I started crocheting a green monster tonight. Wilma is always so interested in my amigurumis, so she wanted to see how I make them.

I’ll continue to crochet in a bit when I watch the two hours of Hell’s Kitchen. 😀

Now I need to take the garbage out. I should have done it earlier, when Wilma and I went to the grocery store to get some margarine. But we forgot to take the rubbish out too. So I have to go out again.

At the same time I will book the washing machine a few hours tomorrow, if there are any times available. I think there is.

It’s been quite warm and sunny today. In the morning I walked to a Lidl store with Alec and it was really warm at that point. We had to drink some apple juice on the way.

About 30 minutes til HK.
