I have had a pretty bad cold several days (almost all the week). But I was called to come and work on Monday and Thursday. So I did that.
I missed the last Italian lesson… Oh well. I have the school book, so I can read it myself.
Yesterday after work I went to pick up my glasses and sunglasses. 🙂 I have not had a chance to try my sunglasses yet, because there is no sun… Right now lots of snow comes down from the sky! The winter came back!
I’ll bake some muffins after dinner and tonight I will watch a movie that I have borrowed from the library.
The cat likes to spend some time on the balcony in the morning. Usually we move the chair to the balcony door so we can keep an eye on him. This morning was cold and rainy (it still rains!). I put the blanket over the chair to make it a bit warmer for the cat. He really liked that. 🙂
Look at his long front paw! 😀 When I took some pictures of him, he gave a big yawn as you can see in one of the pictures. It got cold in the living room with the balcony door open for so long (I am talking about a couple of hours!), so when I had taken the pictures, I moved the chair and the cat into the living room and closed the balcony door. He continued to sleep there for a little while, but pretty quickly walked away. It wasn’t as fun anymore sleeping on the chair while it was in the living room.
My nephew woke up at 5.30 am to go to the bathroom. After that he couldn’t sleep anymore. So he and mum got up around 6 am. At a quarter to 6, the cat woke me up. So we have all been awake for several hours and it’s just 10.30 am…
Cold and rainy day today too. 😦
I am going to crochet now. I made an owl the other day. Now I am making a penguin. But I have only begun with the head, so there is quite a lot more to crochet on the penguin.
I might go to the flea market in a while, but I will have to take the rain coat or the umbrella because it’s so wet.
The day has been cold, and pretty stormy, but the worst storm ended last night. The rain just started. Good I made it home before the rain began.
I should have needed winter clothes (it felt like) when I went to town. Good it is Thursday. They always have pea soup and pancake at a café on Thursdays. I felt so cold coming to town, it was nice to eat warm pea soup. 🙂
The other day the cat was waiting for rain, under the kitchen chair. 🙂 He likes to sleep under the kitchen table and other the chairs. He seems to like the carpet that we have there.
Got him some grass to grow. I have never seen the package before. It was a plastic box with a lid. When you got home you should open the lid, stir around the material that was inside (I don’t know, it was like small pellets or something, no soil), and the grass seeds would come up to the surface. Then you poured water on it and put the lid back on. When it has been in a sunny warm place three or four days, the seeds will start growing and you can remove the lid. We’ll see how it turns out and if the cat likes it or not.
Also got some yarn for my third pair of socks. I like to have different socks to choose between. Not the same pair all the time. I now have two pairs that I choose between and they are starting to get well worn. This color is called Parrot. I don’t actually know how the socks will turn out, but it will be interesting to see! 😀
I got a cold today, like thousands of Finns right now. 😦 Mum has had a cold for days already, now the virus has found me too. The nose has been running and I’ve been sneezing quite a lot. Just a little coughing so far. I must go to work tomorrow though, because I’ll make bracelets with the customers, if they want to…
Boring ice hockey game against Sweden. Finland lost 2-3.
Got 24 bookmarks yesterday. 😀 I ordered two sets of 12 each (birds and butterflies) from an online bookshop. Now I’m covering them with book plastic. Then I will add them to my bookmark collection.
Wrote four Postcrossing postcards today. Germany, Belgium, Ukraine, Russia.
Pretty cold and windy. The temperatures stay around -0 C. Sometimes a few degrees below, sometimes a few degrees above. Almost no snow, pretty icy on the streets, but most of the ice is gone now. Soon I can take the bicycle to town.
I’ll continue with the bookmarks now and wait for X-files! 🙂
The cat stretched himself to maximum length last night on the couch! 😀 He didn’t care much about the ice hockey game between USA and Russia that mum and Kari were watching.
I was working when the semifinal between Finland and Sweden was going on, so I didn’t get to see that. But Finland won! And today they play the final against Russia! 😀 Will the young Finns get gold or silver medals?
I’m not gonna miss that game!
Sadly I will miss one of my favorite TV programs of the year. 😦 When the ice hockey game begins, another channel will show the year of the Swedish royal family. It’s a program which shows what the royal Swedish family has done during the year.
It’s so irritating when you have to choose only one of the two! I guess they will have a rerun of the royal show. For sure they have it online too, but usually I can’t watch anything online because I am not living in Sweden. 😦
It’s very cold this morning. -17 C. Soon I have a long walk to town. The bus leaves at 8 am. I start working at 8.30 am.
It was very cold yesterday too. And the following days are also going to be cold.
I have been sneezing and the nose have been running this morning. I read yesterday that a lot of Finns are having colds these days. I guess I’ll get it too.
Here are my knitted socks that I have been knitting after Christmas. First I made purple socks for my niece Wilma and then I started on these for myself. They were finished late last night.
I made almost everything myself. 🙂 I kind of understand how to turn the heel, pick up stitches on the sides etc. But I prefer to have mum doing those parts. She also makes the last stitches of the toes, because those are tricky too. But all the rest I have knitted! I wanted them to be the same, so I made sure I started the second sock with the same color as the first sock.
I bought a new ball of yarn today, because mum wants to knit a pair of socks using this same yarn, for Wilma. So Wilma will have two pairs of knitted socks soon.
When mum and Kari visited my nephew Alec they noticed that my sister-in-law also have these rainbow socks. They were knitted by her mother.
Mum has now made socks for my nephew Rasmus, my sister Eva and she is almost done knitting for my nephew Jonas. After that she will start on the second pair for Wilma.
I wore the socks last night. They are warm and comfortable, which is nice, because today it is -11 degrees Celsius! It felt very cold when I visited the library and a few other shops. I walked to town and took the bus home.
I am waiting for the quarter final to start. Finland VS Canada, IIHF World Junior Championships (ice hockey for players under 20 years). They play the tournament in Finland this year and the arena are always sold out when the Finnish “lion cubs” play. I really hope they win today’s game so they can be in top 4 and continue the tournament. The second line (Pulujärvi – Laine – Aho) is incredible! When those three players are on the ice magic happens! I think Pulujärvi has scored 5 times and gotten 7 assists or something like that. The other two has also scored and gotten assists several times.
But I am sure they will have a difficult game today against team Canada! Because Canada has one of the best ice hockey teams in the world.
Tonight I decided to go to the cinema. I made up my mind pretty late, because it was so rainy and cold earlier in the day and dark as well. The sun goes down early in the afternoon these days. But I made it in time to the cinema before the movie started.
I watched “The Walk” based on a true story, about a French guy walking on a wire between the WTC twin towers. It was really thrilling and funny too. So I am happy that I went to the cinema.
The number of people watching the movie tonight: 1! I was all alone in the cinema! Well, others were watching the James Bond movie in the room next door (I could hear a little from the film while I waited for a guy to let me in), but no one else wanted to watch The Walk. It was kind of fun being alone. No one was bugging me with whispers or opening plastic bags with candies or eating chips.
I will see if I can find the book that the French guy wrote about his adventure. But I don’t think it is in the library. Maybe online. I will for sure search the internet to read about the real guy that walked from one tower to the other.
No rain in the evening, so I was dry when I came home, just in time to watch the final episode for the season of the Swedish Hollywood wives. 🙂 The seasons are always so short though. They could have longer seasons with more episodes.
Better get to bed now. It’s getting late.
