Happy Easter!

Happy Easter if you are celebrating Easter! ๐Ÿ˜€

This is a closeup of my Easter grass. In Finland (and other countries too I guess) it is a tradition to grow grass on a plate or little box. Then you put little chickens in the grass as decoration. I also put some small chocolate eggs in the grass. ๐Ÿ™‚

The grass grows pretty quickly, so you have to cut it several times with scissors. Otherwise the chickens/chocolate eggs will disappear among the high grass! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I will eat the little chocolate eggs when I put away the Easter decorations next week.

Here is a picture of a chicken I crocheted freehand (using no instructions) yesterday and today.

Well, it’s late. So Happy Easter once again! ๐Ÿ™‚

Making clothes for a doll

So nice to see Kimi Rรคikkรถnen on the podium today after the Singapore GP! ๐Ÿ˜€ Although he seemed disappointed as usual… He just wants to win. I guess he doesn’t really care about the third prize trophies! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I made a crocheted kind of doll (it’s blue, with a huge head, long arms and legs and big feet!) to my niece a while ago. Now she has given it back to me, so I can crochet some clothes for the doll. He already has a scarf and a winter hat, because the descriptions for those where in the book. But I have had to figure the other clothes out myself. I have made a baseball cap, a pair of mittens, a pair of leg warmers (which I actually knitted today! The other items I have crocheted.) I guess she wants it back on Friday next week when she is coming for my birthday party, so I will try to make some more clothes during next week.

I wish I had more time though, because the work takes several hours a day. I still have a week and a half left of the work.

Lots of rain the last few days. I had to go to my “old” library on Friday. 50 minutes cycling in heavy rain in the morning, 50 minutes cycling in heavy rain in the afternoon… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ No, I did not enjoy it. But lots of people were striking (refused to go to work, protesting against the government and what not…) I would have been able to take the bus in the morning, but not been able to take the bus home in the afternoon. So I kind of didn’t have any alternative. I had to take the bike. Lucky I didn’t get too wet because I had good rain clothes and wellington boots when I was cycling. ๐Ÿ™‚

Better go to bed now. I hope the rain will be much less next week.

A little too hot

It’s +28 C! (+82.4 F) Sunny and very hotโ€ฆ It’s like a sauna in the apartment. I know the cat doesn’t like the heat either with all the thick fur his has. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I need a cool shower!

After that I am going to see if I find instructions for a cute rubber band pig charm on YT. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also need to change the bed sheets and may be I’ll even wash them today. (If I remember how to put on the washing machineโ€ฆ)

I guess I’ll have to put the duvet back in the closet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Don’t think I need it tonight!

Going to watch the soccer game between Brazil and Germany tonight. At least I think it is Germany that they are playing the semi final against. I hope Brazil wins the game, but I suppose it will be difficult for them with top players out of the game.

No test driving for Kimi Raikkonen tomorrow, according to Ferrari. He still has bruises on his left knee and ankle and a little pain in his leg after that horrible accident! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ It’s always scary when it takes several seconds before the driver tries to get out of the car. The outcome could have been much worse last Sunday. Kimi was very lucky!

Took my nephew to town todayโ€ฆ And we walked all the way from here to the market square. I asked him if he really could walk so long, but he said he could and he did. ๐Ÿ™‚ We walked pretty slowly and stopped halfway to go to the swings in a park.

We visited the train station and I bought train tickets, because I am going to Seinรคjoki on Friday! ๐Ÿ˜€ I hope the weather is good on Friday. It doesn’t have to be this hot, but I don’t like it to rain too much either. A quick rain shower is okay, but if it’s constantly raining for hours it’s not gonna be fun.

We also ate some ice cream and then we took the bus back home.

I heard a little thunder in the afternoon, but it was somewhere in the distance. Nowhere close to home.

Don’t want to go out any more tonight. But the cat wants to go on the balcony now. He doesn’t understand that it is much hotter out on the balcony. He should go lay down under the bed instead, where it is cooler. Guess I’ll have to let him go a few minutes before I shower.

May be I’ll be able to finish (or closely finish) the butterfly girl amigurumi tonight while I watch the soccer. I have three wings, the polka dots and the antennae left to crochet.

Crocheted elk

Crocheted elk

So, this is the big elk I have been crocheting the last days. Finished it yesterday. It was a bit tricky to make it as the yarn was so thick. I used a 7 mm crochet hook.

It’s about 30 cm from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. It’s slightly more than 30 cm from one end of the horn to the end of the other horn. So it’s quite big. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now I am going to make the same elk, using the yarn that I usually have when I make amigurumis. I want to know how small that elk is going to be, compared to this big one. ๐Ÿ˜‰

He has googly eyes. In the picture it looks like the eyes point in two different directions (left and right), but it’s just because I lay the elk down. When he is sitting the black parts of the eyes look normal, pointing down.

Cold and snowy

Cold and snowy

I really didn’t think I would need my winter coat in April. But apparently I didโ€ฆ It’s +0 C at the moment. Last night there came some heavy snow (which is almost completely melted now), but it feels really cold outside. Definitely more like winter than spring. The sun is shining a little bit, but no warmth comes from the sun. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Niki looked so cute yesterday when he was sleeping on my couch. ๐Ÿ˜€

This morning I finished reading James Bowen’s “The world according to Bob”. ๐Ÿ™‚ Very cute story! You should read it if you haven’t already read it. The first book “A street cat named Bob” is available in around 30 different languages. I am sure they will translate the second book into just as many languages too.

I read 11 books in March. Theodore Boone, a crime story, two books with crime novellas (short stories), and some books with 150-160 pages. A couple of books for young people too.

So I have one book read in April now. Reading the third TB book at the moment. Also have borrowed some crime stories from the library, so I will start reading those in April too.

A bit annoying with all the April’s fool jokes on the Internet and in newspapers. Luckily it’s only one day of the yearโ€ฆ

I went to buy a new table cloth for the kitchen table today. As usual we have table cloths made of wax, because they are so simple to wipe clean. The one I chose is beige and have some different kinds of flowers and unreadable text on it.

The old table cloth mum will put on the balcony table later, when it’s warm enough to sit on the balcony.

Got some yarn in the mail today! ๐Ÿ˜€ Also got a crochet hook and instructions on how to crochet a large elk! ๐Ÿ™‚ So I have started with the head already. But it’s a bit tricky with the very thick yarn. Will post a photo whenever it is ready.

A little bit of snow

The winds were strong, it felt cold and there was a few snow flakes coming down from the sky when I took the bicycle to Lidl. ๐Ÿ™‚ย

It’s supposed to get a little warmer now, as in -4 C to -2 C. May be tomorrow we’ll have those kind of temperatures. I hope so. And they are expecting a lot a snow, so I hope that comes too.ย

Nice to come home, put on the fake one-piece and some knitted socks. ๐Ÿ™‚

The comedy show yesterday was funny! ๐Ÿ˜€ It wasn’t too long. 90 minutes plus a break of 15 minutes in the middle. The show was sold out. But it was really cold walking home in -18 C. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Going to watch some YouTube now before dinner. Tonight I might start crocheting an amigurumi. ๐Ÿ™‚ And read a book. And watch TLC. ๐Ÿ™‚

Rain

Yeah, the fun is over. Sunday-Monday it was -14 Celsius or something. Cold and nice, plenty of snow. Today it was -5 at a point, but now it’s +2 and raining. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ The snow is melting fast. And tomorrow it’s supposed to be +4. The whole week it’s going to be +1 to +3 somewhere.ย

I really hope it turns around for the end of the month. I don’t want it to rain and the grass to be green on Christmas…

Wrote a letter today to one of my pen pals.ย

Also did pretty much crocheting while watching TV-shows on TLC. I made a little Santa (that’s supposed to hang in the Christmas tree) as well as an egg sitting in a cup. ๐Ÿ˜€ Still need to give the Santa some eyes and a mouth and the other things aren’t completely done either.

Tomorrow I am going to work 5,5 hours. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s been a long time since last. In June! And I’ll probably only work that one day, but still nice to get those phone calls saying that they need me.

Didn’t pay much attention to the Nobel prize ceremonies and I watched nothing of the big dinner. It’s pretty boring when both princess Madeleine and crown princess Victoria were missing. But I did see when Higgs and Englert got their prizes. Not sure I spelled the Englert name correctly.

It’s getting late. Better go to bed.
