It’s getting cold :)

This morning it was -1 C when I woke up. πŸ™‚ Later in the day it was +5, but at least the first snow is getting closer every day! πŸ˜€ Soon it’s already October and sometimes the first snow of the season comes in October.

Nothing much is new here. I keep cross stitching small things (bookmarks etc). Not so much crocheting, but I will soon make an amigurumi or two.

On Friday it’s back to Turku again. 😦 Should get the bus tickets soon. May be tomorrow.

Of course they are driving Formula 1 this weekend too. It seems like they are always driving Formula 1 when I have to go to Turku. This weekend I can only watch the Grand Prix. No free practice sessions, no qualifying… 😦

I am in the library now. Will go and borrow a book, then take the bicycle home again. May be read a little and continue cross stitching.

I am reading “Pure” by Julianna Baggott and I LOVE it!!! πŸ˜€ I’ve read about 140 pages so far. A few days ago I bought the second book in the trilogy, “Fuse”. The last part, “Burn” comes 2014.

Cat in the box

Cat in the box

The cat found a new box tonight. πŸ™‚ He always have to check new boxes out, and see if he can fit into them… This one seems to be a little too small. But he still enjoyed sleeping in it!

Had to spend the day with my niece who didn’t feel well enough to be in school. We watched Toy Story 3 on DVD and read some books. Also helped her a little with her school work that her big brother brought with him when he came home from school. Got there around 9 am and left after 2 pm.

Very rainy today and cold. 😦 Pretty windy as well. Not a pleasant day to be outside the house. I was soaking wet when I came home in the afternoon.

Nothing on TV tonight. Spend a couple of hours watching Numb3rs on DVD. I am watching season 5 at the moment, only a few more episodes to watch of that season. Of course, I have watched all the episodes before so I know what happens in them. But I love Numb3rs! πŸ˜€

It’s getting late. Better go to bed.

Welcome, Tre Kronor!

Welcome, Tre Kronor!

Went to town today to watch as the ship Tre Kronor from Sweden came for a visit to Vasa. πŸ™‚ But it was very cold and windy today.

Tre Kronor was ready in 2005, but looks like a ship that was used in the 19th century.

It stays in Vasa until Saturday and during a few hours every day people can go aboard the ship and take a closer look. I am sure I’ll do that later in the week.

It’s a beautiful ship. πŸ™‚

Happy Birthday to me!

Happy birthday, me! πŸ˜€Β

Now I am going to make some muffins. My sister’s family and grand mum are coming tonight. Don’t know if others are coming. They come if they come. If not today, they can come and drink some coffee another day. But there is no guarantee that there is cake left if they come later this week… πŸ˜‰

I’d like to make the birthday cake myself. But mum says I should go to the bakery down the street. We’ll see.Β

But at least I’d better make those muffins now.

Kimi the Great! ;)

Wow, I never would have thought Kimi RΓ€ikkΓΆnen could start from P13 in Singapore and finish 3rd! What makes it even greater is that he suffered from bad pains in his back (he needed strong pain killers and several injections in his back during the weekend) and during the race the KERS system didn’t work properly. Still, a podium finish! Too bad nothing, no one, can stop Vettel. 30 seconds before Alonso and 45 seconds before Kimi…

Soon I will watch the sports news and hopefully they will interview Kimi.

Did some homework for school today. 😦 Math stuff. I hate math! Me + math = a bad combination. And honestly, if I ever get a job in a library, I don’t think I will ever have to use math formulas to calculate relationships between two authors! Well, not relationships, co-citation… Urgh!

The day in Turku yesterday was okay. I almost got there too late. Well I stood outside of the school building almost 30 minutes, no one in sight… Had to call mum and made her open my e-mail to make sure I had the correct day! Turned out I was at the wrong building! 😦 Eventually found the correct building. Luckily they hadn’t yet started when I arrived and a few people got there after mee too.

A bit tired after sitting 12 hours in the bus. It does feel in the legs.

Long bus trip ahead tonight

Nothing much going on at the moment. But tonight I have to go to bed early and have the alarm clock to wake me up at sometimes after 1 am. At half past two I am going with the bus to Turku. Yeah, one of those days again… I have lessons from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Not looking forward to it. A total of 12 hours in the bus within 24 hours. I shall be tired on Sunday…

Unfortunately I have to go to Turku with the bus three times before the end of October! 😦 Tomorrow, Oct. 4th and 5th (I have lessons on Friday too from 6 to 9 pm, so I have to sleep one night in Turku then), and October 26th.

For those who don’t know, I am studying information science, a three year education that will give no degree, but the knowledge I need to apply for jobs as a librarian in the future. The courses are online, but once in a while you have to go to Turku to study there for a day (or two, as is the case in the beginning of October).Β

Of course there is Formula One this weekend. I can’t watch the Saturday free practice then nor the qualifying. They are driving in Singapore this weekend. I will watch the practices today and the race on Sunday.

It’s a grey, cold and windy day. No rain at the moment, but I suppose rain will start coming again later. It rained quite a lot during the night.Β

Have cross stitched quite a bit lately, only small things though. Yesterday I tried, for the first time, to make a mirror image of a design. Because I had an image of a fish jumping to the right and I wanted to cross stitch the same fish jumping to the left (so they are looking at each other). It was pretty easy making the mirror image with paper and pencil, one column at a time.

The Christmas table cloth I have taken a break from. But I will probably have to unpick some stitches today. 😦 May be when I am watching the free practices. Not sure how much I have to unpick, but I don’t think it’s that much.

Formula one drivers

Ok, so I went to the cinema in the afternoon and I watched the Rush movie. πŸ™‚ Only 31 people in the biggest hall in the cinema, felt a little empty…Β

But the movie was great! πŸ˜€ I will definitely buy the DVD whenever it comes. I was not aware of the whole Hunt-Lauda thing and what happened during the accident and after. I only knew that Lauda had crashed and got badly burnt. But I didn’t know much else. So it was interesting to see the movie. Interesting too to learn that Lauda actually wanted to cancel the race because of the bad weather. But the majority of the drivers wanted to race so they did. And Lauda crashed.Β

Less than two months later he was back on the track!? Wow, and he “let” Hunt win the championship by stopping the car early in the last race of the season.Β

It’s probably difficult to fully understand what it feels like to drive in Formula 1, especially when the track is wet and slippery. And still they are going as fast as they can around the track.Β

The safety is of course much better now than what it was back in those days. And no driver has died since Ayrton Senna in the early 90s. (Don’t remember the exact year now.) But the drivers can still get very badly injured (Felipe Massa in 2008 is a good example) and you really never know when the next big accident will occur in Formula one.Β

I give the movie 5 stars out of 5 possible! πŸ˜€ Everyone should go and see it. Especially the second part of the movie was very thrilling.
