Little bits of this and that

I am done with all the price tags. 😀 On Thursday I start selling. Now I just need to figure out a way of getting all the stuff there… Well, I have my backpack and probably a few plastic bags on each side of the bicycle.

Don’t really feel anything about May 1st this year. Of course I’ll go to town, look at all the things going on, but I’m not in a particularly festive mood. My nephew Alec will be here tomorrow, so I am going with him and mum to town. Then they will probably visit grand mum and I will do something else or go home.

Did some cross stitching today. Almost done with the words. Soon I can start stitching pictures of animals and paper lanterns.

Also made a poodle finger puppet of felt. I bought a copy of Mollie Makes (I only buy a few issues a year) and this time they have on the cover five different dogs that are finger puppets. Will make the rest in a few days.

Had time to write a book review too. Could have been longer, but I think it’s enough. It was a good book. The Sisterhood by Helen Bryan.

Wow, this Internet connection is really slow at the moment. When I write something it takes about 10 seconds before the words appear on the screen. Don’t know if it is the internet connection of WordPress that are really slow at the moment.

Tasted the mead today. 🙂 A little strong, in my taste, but okay. Usually only drink may be 3-5 glasses per season.

Last evening with TLC on TV. 😦 Had to give it up, because the TV company removed the channel that shows Formula 1 from the package that I had. So I had to give up the package and choose another one, with the sports channel. I will not miss Formula 1! Because I gave up the package I also lost the Swedish channels, so I had to buy two more packages which shows the Swedish channels. Good thing is, from tomorrow I can see Swedish 1, 2, 3, 4 and a few others that I don’t remember. I only had 3 and 4 before. It only cost me five euros extra a month, so it’s not a huge deal. But of course I am a bit annoyed that I lost TLC, which was my favorite TV channel. 😦

Ok, I am soon going nuts over this slow Internet. I will log out and before turning the lights off, I’ll read a few pages of the Hobbit. Linda, I know what you are thinking, but I really enjoyed the first 30 pages. And I plan on reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy after the Hobbit, no matter what people think about my book taste.

Price tags

Spent a few hours today putting price tags on my flea market stuff. Only a few days left now. I still have some left, but will do the rest tomorrow. I hope I didn’t go too expensive on some of the items. We’ll see.

Strong wind again today… Went into town, looked at the EU thing they had in Rewell Center.

Didn’t have time to cross stitch or crochet today.

Sorry if the picture is blurry…

Flea market

Today I’ve spend much time putting price tags on the things that I am going to sell on the flea market. It takes time… And it’s difficult knowing what price to put on the tags. You don’t want to take too much, because then no one wants to buy it. Still have pretty much left, but I think I’m done for today. I still have a few more days time.

The horoscope signs are all stitched now. The next step would be to make them into bookmarks and add some text. Maybe I will at least start with that tonight.

Yesterday, while watching Let’s Dance (both my favorite dancers made it to next week) I started cross stitching a larger piece. It’s the Chinese zodiac animals. The rat, the dragon and so on… But I am not using the Aida-fabric that I normally use. Now I am stitching on even weave which is more difficult, because I am not used to it.

Got tired after dinner (home made meatballs). Might take a quick nap now.

Today I made 12 Garfield bookmarks. 😀 I cut out pictures from an old comic album that I had. I didn’t plan to make 12, I just cut out the pictures I liked and started putting them together. Then I added some text and covered everything with book plastic. I did take pictures of the bookmarks, but they didn’t turn out well. So I’ll try tomorrow again.

As for my other bookmarks I am making… I have three and a half signs left. Pisces is half finished and after that I have Capricorn, Gemini and Leo. I thought I would have done all cross stitching today. But then I made the Garfield bookmarks instead.

I also had time to write and send a letter to Belgium.

Today I also made a reservation for a table at the flea market. So from May 2nd to 8th I will sell some of my stuff at the flea market. I’ve found a lot to sell, but I will try to find something more too.

Mead recipe

Mum is making mead today, a sweet mead that we Finns drink around May 1st. I thought I would give the recipe. 😀

10 liters of boiling water
0.5 kilogram of brown sugar
0.5 kilogram of regular sugar
1 bottle (33 cl) of beer
1 lemon
A quarter of a teaspoon of yeast
A little more sugar

In a bucket that can take 10 liters, put the brown and the white sugar. Peel the lemon (try to avoid as much white as possible), throw down the lemon peel in the bucket. Add the lemon juice too (but not the stones). Add the boiling water. You will have to boil water several times as you probably don’t have a pan that is big enough. 🙂 Stir around a bit so the sugar dissolves. Cover the bucket with a plate or a big lid or  something.

When the liquid is cool (which takes a few hours at least), add the beer and a tiny bit of yeast.

The following morning, strain the liquid (to remove the lemon peel). Put 10-15 raisins and a couple of teaspoons of sugar in glass bottles (for example wine bottles). Fill the bottles with the mead. Let it be in room temperature over the day, then put them in the refrigerator.

The mead is ready in 4-5 days when the raisins have reached the top of the bottle. 😀

Feel free to ask if you have questions!

Strong wind

Quite a strong wind here at the moment. That’s never funny, as the windows are shaking and rumbling… Hope the wind slows down soon.

Apparently Kimi Räikkönen suffered an allergic reaction a few hours before the GP in Bahrain. That makes his second place even more impressive! 😀

The library has a large sale of old books this week. It’s books that are old, dirty, with old facts, ripped etc. Only 50 cents each. Too late I thought about buying a few extra books, any books, and use the pages when I am making bookmarks and other puzzling things. It looks nice when you use a page from a book on a card or whatever you might want to make.

I must go to the library tomorrow again and buy a few books for that purpose. I am not going to read the books I buy, just rip the pages out. I wouldn’t rip the pages out of a book that I actually want to read.

Three horoscope signs are completely x-stitched now. 🙂 Aries, Sagittarius and Virgo. Tomorrow I’ll do Taurus and a few other, depending on how much time/energy I have to x-stitch.

Now I need to sleep.
